Don’t Be the Reason They Flinch

Anger isn’t just a bad mood. It’s a wrecking ball. If you don’t figure out how to let go of anger, it’ll shape your kids, shrink your influence, and torch your witness. But there is a better way. One that trades blowups for peace and replaces guilt with real strength.

Facing the Damage Anger Can Cause

Anger doesn’t just show up—it builds quietly, then blows up loudly. We’ve heard from thousands of dads who say it’s their number one enemy. Maybe it is for you too.

It wrecks trust, stirs regret, and leaves your family walking on eggshells. If you want to disciple your family in Christ, you’ve got to learn how to let go of anger before it keeps you from the mission.

Do You Walk Around at 211?

Most anger doesn’t explode out of nowhere. It simmers.

We walk around at 211 degrees—one sharp word, one spilled drink, one delay—and we boil over.

The real problem isn’t the noise around us. It’s the unrest inside us. We need less pressure and more peace. A reset under the hood.

Biblical anger management isn’t about pretending you’re calm. It’s about letting God cool your soul with His Word and His Spirit.

Think Your Anger Is “Righteous”? Unlikely.

Most dads can quote one verse on anger: “Be angry and do not sin” (Eph. 4:26). So we tell ourselves, “It’s okay to be angry. I just have to handle it well.”

But look again:

  • One verse later, Paul warns that anger gives the devil a foothold (Eph. 4:27).
  • A few verses later, he tells us to put anger away (Eph. 4:31).
  • And elsewhere, anger sits in the same list as jealousy, idolatry, and malice (2 Cor. 12:20; Gal. 5:20; Col. 3:8).

We’d never say, “Idolatry is fine—it’s what you do in your idolatry that’s the problem.”

Don’t be fooled. Most anger isn’t righteous. It’s destructive. Don’t manage it. Remove it.

Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.
