APPLY SCRIPTURE

Paul and Barnabas caused quite the stir in Lystra (healing a guy nearly caused a riot), then they skipped town, but returned later. When they came back, they were, “…strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying that through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.” (Acts 14:22) We all need encouragement! As a dad, you’re in a unique position to provide it. I was with a friend recently who’s son-in-law needs some encouragement. And, this guy is committed to giving it! I was inspired by his intentionality. I find it interesting that Paul and Barnabas encouraged by sharing that tribulations are necessary. That’s ironic. Sometimes, encouraging doesn’t mean we hide the difficulty ahead but we remind people that even amidst it, God will be with them always.
