APPLY SCRIPTURE
Ephesians 2:10 gives a good picture of what playing offense as a dad means, from understanding who you are, why you’re created, and how you can walk with purpose. Let’s unpack this.
#1 God made you. “For we are his workmanship…” With these few words, God reminds you He created you. The word workmanship describes a masterpiece crafted with purpose and care.
You’re not a self-made man, no matter how successful you get. Your identity starts and ends with Him. Understanding and living this out leads you to become a more gracious, patient, and faithful example for your kids.
#2 You’re made to do good. “…created in Christ Jesus for good works…” God didn’t save you to sit, chill, and play golf, at least not all the time. He created you to serve. And you can serve God by serving your family.
Be in the Word. Spend time with each child. Create memories through hobbies, trips, and shared experiences. Don’t think that breaking the bank is required to make memories either. You’re called to grow in Christ yourself, and then you can give your kids the tools they need to grow in Him.
#3 So do good right now. “…which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Breathe for me real quick. You don’t have to invent the perfect parenting strategy. God has already given you what you need. You have His Word.
Pay attention to what’s happening right in front of you. Maybe it’s a business trip you’re dreading. In that case, could you take your family along with you? Maybe it’s simply playing your kids’ favorite board game this evening. Faithfulness shouldn’t feel complicated. You don’t have to be perfect: God works through consistent and faithful dads.

TAKE ACTION
Don’t read today’s email and think: “I gotta cram more activities into my evening.” It’s about making the right priorities. Consider where God is already at work and join Him.
Read His Word. Plan some one-on-one time if you have multiple kids. Find shared interests and create memories. The point is: be intentional today rather than having to react tomorrow.
The godly dad doesn’t fall into influence; he walks with God on purpose and trusts that everything else will take care of itself.
