APPLY SCRIPTURE
Romans 12:2 reminds us that the godly dad is transformed by God, not the world. Let’s unpack this.
#1 Don’t let the world shape you. “Do not be conformed to this world…” It’s not normal to drift toward godliness. Instead, we often tend to drift toward the world. The world never stops selling its version of status, manhood, identity, and worth. But it’s all hollow, telling you to do better, get more money, and pretend you have what you don’t.
God doesn’t call you to follow the world. The wise father knows that following Jesus looks different from following the world. This is critical because your kids will see your choices, values, and frustrations.
#2 Let God transform you. “[B]ut be transformed by the renewal of your mind…” Change starts on the inside before it shows up in your life. God renews you by reshaping your mind through His Word. Most of us carry lies, I’m not enough, I’m not ready, I’ll never change, but God’s Word gives you a better view of yourself, your family, and your purpose.
Renewing your mind is a daily choice to be in His Word. Fill your mind with Scripture, and it’ll start to change how you think and respond. Over time, what comes out of you looks less and less like anger and shame and more like Jesus.
#3 Lead from God’s wisdom, not your feelings. “[T]hat by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” You need wisdom from God because being a dad is not simple. Every day brings decisions, pressures, and moments that make you wonder if you’re getting any of it right.
But God doesn’t leave you to figure it out alone. He promises clarity, not confusion, as His truth shapes your mind. Wisdom starts when you stay close to Him and learn to trust His ways instead of your feelings. You don’t have to lead perfectly; you just have to stay close to God.

TAKE ACTION
This week, name one lie you’ve been carrying as a dad, such as: I’m not enough, I’ve messed up too much, or I’ll never lead well.
Then replace it with one clear truth from God’s Word. Write it down. Pray over it every day. Come back to it when something bad happens. Don’t keep leading from the same place you have been. Lead from what God says is true.
The godly dad isn’t shaped by the world but by the truth of God.
