APPLY SCRIPTURE

Your prayer life is a byproduct of trusting God and knowing His Word. It’s a two-way transmission that should never stop. But do you know how prayer really works. #1 Prayer crushes worry. Do not be anxious about anything… (Phil. 4:6). Anxiety often starts by focusing on what you can’t control… that promotion at work, your kid’s grades, or a sick family member. Recognize your worries and redirect your focus to trusting God. God says prayer crushes anxiety. #2 So give God everything.but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God (Phil. 4:6). Prayer is our direct line to God. Worry/anxiety shows up when our focus is on us/situation/circumstance rather than God. Reminder: Joy is ONLY found in God. Supplication is a fancy word for humbly asking for help. You want to know how to be thankful? Recognize how faithful God’s been in your life. #3 …and find Peace. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus (Phil. 4:7). This isn’t an all-of-my-wants-and-needs-are-met-so-I-have-peace kind of thing. No, this peace is from God and is beyond human understanding. This peace is built different. This peace guards your heart and mind. Guard is a military word; a peace you have in God that stands like a soldier at the gate guarding your heart and mind against anxiety/worry/fear.
