LOOKING UP

The death of a friend’s wife in her forties. My own sinful tendencies. Parenting a six-year-old who acts like, well, a six-year-old. Watching one of my sons struggle mightily. These are just a few of the things on my recent radar. As I met with a counselor, he said, “Try not to parent your child’s anxieties with your own.” What a great reminder. How often do I parent from my own fears, worries, anger, insecurities, and anxiousness? Way too often, that’s for sure. Proverbs 12:25 says, “Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.” One of the remedies for anxiety: a good word. A bible verse. An encouraging text. A holy song. If you’re feeling anxious, find you a good word. And, if you have a good word, share it with someone.
