Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself. Pretty deep, right? Yeah, it just came to me (through the work of a 13th-century poet named Rumi, but I should get some credit for typing it out). You and I are, and will always be, a work in progress—little more than clay being shaped and molded by the hands of our Father (Isaiah 64:8). Whether you are 23 or 73, the growth and maturing process is never-ending.
There are many tools and resources available to help us grow in Biblical wisdom and understanding. Years ago, during simpler times, people turned to books for learning. Honestly, who’s got time for words and reading? There’s a good chance you’re not reading this right now but have already skipped down to the bold points below (I don’t blame you). Today, many of us turn to podcasts for easy insights into a wide range of subject matters. They’re quick to download and carry with us, providing opportunities to listen to them almost anywhere (not while on jury duty, heavily frowned upon in the courtroom).
Christian podcasts focused on Biblical teaching:
- Radical with David Platt
- The Village Church – Sermons by Matt Chandler
- Southeast Christian Church with Kyle Idleman
We all need dedicated time in God’s Word. It draws us closer to the Father, and the strength of that relationship enhances every other aspect of our lives. To aid our understanding of the Bible, we can turn to podcasts of people who are excellent at explaining even the most difficult of spiritual truths. Be selective in who you choose. Do some digging before you open yourself up to anyone’s interpretation of Scripture. Make sure what they believe and value lines up with what the Bible teaches.
Great shows on Biblical fatherhood:
- Dad Tired by Jerrad Lopes
- Father on Purpose Podcast with Kent Evans and Lawson Brown
Here at Manhood Journey, we want to speak to the hearts of fathers. And we do. Out loud. On a podcast. The Father on Purpose Podcast is hosted by Kent Evans and Lawson Brown. These two relatable dads offer Biblical and practical approaches to fatherhood in a lighthearted way. Another option is Dad Tired, led by Jerrad Lopes. A former pastor focusing on fatherhood, Jerrad talks about being a Christian dad and husband with openness and honesty.

Popular listens about Biblical manhood:
- John Eldredge and Wild at Heart
- Every Man Ministries with Kenny Luck
Check out the Wild at Heart podcast with John Eldredge and his team for tips on all-around manhood. Years ago, Eldredge wrote the book “Wild at Heart.” It became the manual for many men to reclaim the masculine heart. Another podcast worth a listen on all things manhood is Every Man Ministries with Kenny Luck. He is the founder and president of Every Man Ministries that reach millions of men through books, devotionals, men’s church ministries, and every avenue he can think of to connect a man to his Creator.
We dads are a work in progress. And that’s ok.
Regardless of how great of a husband, father, and man you may be, there is always room to grow, to mature. Popping in a Christian podcast on your way to work or while you’re out for a jog is an easy way to learn, adapt, change for the better. Remember, if you want to change your family, you have to start with yourself.
