1 Timothy for Dads – Week 6

In this episode of Father On Purpose, Kent and Lawson wrap up their walk through 1 Timothy with a practical look at what chapter 6 teaches Christian dads about contentment, money, godliness, spiritual discipline, and legacy.

Paul tells Timothy to “fight the good fight of the faith” and to “guard what has been entrusted to you.” For fathers, those commands hit close to home. What are you fighting for? What has God entrusted to you? And what are your kids learning from the things that consume your time, attention, and conversation?

Kent and Lawson unpack the tension between godly ambition and worldly discontentment, why the Bible does not teach that money itself is evil, and how dads can pursue righteousness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness without falling into either passive Christianity or self-reliance. They also explore the relationship between God’s grace and personal discipline, and why becoming a godly man requires both dependence on the Holy Spirit and intentional action.

The conversation ultimately turns toward fatherhood and legacy: What are you writing on the hearts of your children through the way you live today? If you could leave your kids one final letter, what would you want them to remember?

If you’re a Christian father who wants to lead your family biblically, grow in your faith, study the Bible more effectively, and become a more intentional dad, this episode is for you.
