I have an eleven-year-old son named Timothy. He’s growing fast. As such, the boy loves to eat. He’s at that stage where he’ll finish his burger and then stare at you while you eat yours. If you lose focus – even for a second – that burger is fair game. OK, he won’t actually steal it, but, he’ll ask politely if you’re gonna finish it. If you don’t, he will. What do you hunger for? What foods do you love? Not only do we have physical appetites, we have spiritual appetites as well. Jesus said, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” (Matt 5:6 ESV) Does that describe you? Your kids? Do you crave the holy, righteous and good things of God? Are you satisfied?

What’s the Role of a Father? w/ Pastor Scott Nickell: Too often in today’s media, the role of a father comes off as a running punchline. In reality, a father’s role is infinitely more important than most men can even imagine. After all, God chose to describe Himself as “Father” because He wanted to provide an example of love, provision, and sacrifice that resonates with human dads. When it comes to digging into the role of a father, Scott Nickell, lead teaching pastor at Southland Christian Church in Lexington, Kentucky, speaks from experience. In addition to hosting the Locker Room podcast,  Scott’s the father of four, and he’s passionate about helping men, fathers, and husbands become all God created them to be.

TAKE ACTION

Consider your appetite. Let’s take a spiritual hunger inventory. What do you like to feast on, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally? Fear. Drama. Entertainment. Sports. Sex. Money. Power. Control. Hobbies. Above all these, do you yearn for righteousness? Does your family? How could you help steer and guide your family’s appetites towards the things of God?
