LOOKING UP

I know a lotta dads who want to be prayer warriors, but they just don’t know how. If this is you, I recommend Kay Arthur’s helpful book on prayer, Lord, Teach Me to Pray in 28 Days. (I just finished it. In my case, a more apt title might’ve been, “…teach me to pray in about four months”). One key takeaway: Dads should pray God’s Word over our families. Sure, we can pray anything to God and He hears us. But, there’s something especially powerful about praying through and with God’s Word. When we do this, we are agreeing and aligning with Him and His work in a remarkable way. You can pray through the Psalms, or a specific chapter like Colossians 3 or Romans 8. Or, if you have a few minutes right now, here are five specific verses you can pray over your family today.

Stewardship isn’t just about money: Everything we own is on LOAN from God. Often we think of stewarding resources in terms of financial responsibility. That’s important stuff. Yet, being a good steward is about much more than just managing our money well. It’s about serving others with everything God has temporarily placed in our possession. All of it belongs to God and He’s watching how we use it.
