We know wise counsel is vital. But why don’t we seek it out? Just like we don’t ask for directions, we don’t actively get wisdom. Want wisdom? Get these three essentials. #1 KNOWLEDGE: They speak visions of their own minds, not from the mouth of the Lord (Jer. 23:16). Knowledge isn’t bad. It helps you find false teaching. The world wants to deceive you/your wife/your kids. You’re the frontline of protection. Stay vigilant. Point your family to Scripture. The world says what you want to hear. Scripture says what you need to hear. #2 EXPERIENCE: To everyone who stubbornly follows his own heart, they say, ‘No disaster shall come upon you'” (Jer. 23:17). Experience isn’t bad either. It helps you face false teaching. The world says you have your own truth, “Do what feels right. Follow your heart.” Scripture says there’s one way—and it’s not your way. #3 ALIGNMENT: Who has paid attention to his word (Jer. 23:18)? Alignment with God is key. It helps you fight false teaching. Most guys get advice from Google searches and Facebook groups. Alignment with God comes from God’s Word. Live by His Word and you’ll be an example worth imitating.

15 SCRIPTURES TO PRAY OVER YOUR CHILDREN: Praying for our kids with Scripture is like giving them an unbreakable shield for the battles life throws their way. It’s not just about asking for things; it’s about embedding those timeless principles and God’s wisdom deep within their souls. It’s showing them that even when we can’t be there, God is always there.

SEEKING WISE AND GODLY COUNSEL: Life is full of decisions. As guys, we make a lot of them without a second thought, while others keep us up at night. Whether the choices are major or minor, life is also full of counselors who are ready to help you sort through your options. As men of God, we have to be careful because the advice we get is only as good as its source. The book of Proverbs gives us insight as to why God’s Word is the most reliable source of wisdom out there. As guys, we’ve got to be intentional about seeking godly wisdom from the Word and godly counsel from those around us.

Guard and guide. Most of my prayers are for God to guard me and guide me. God, guard me from sin. Guard my thoughts, words, and actions. Guard me from myself; from saying something I shouldn’t. God, guide me in Your wisdom. Guide my thoughts, words, and actions so they reflect more of You. Reminder: You’re free to actively seek wisdom. Go get it. Ask. Seek. Knock. Let God’s Word transform your thoughts, words, and actions this week.
