We are going to concisely explore the power behind all creation. The power of the Holy Spirit. As in Hebrew, the Ruach Hakodesh.

Ruach can be translated as Spirit but can also mean breath or wind.

Foreshadowing

Before we continue this exploration, I want to introduce foreshadowing.

What is it?

Well, foreshadowing is a literary device in which a writer gives an advance hint of what is to come later in the story.

Reality Is a Shadow Of The Spirit Realm

God is a master of using foreshadowing. Where do we first encounter it?

Why, in the beginning of course…

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth — Now the earth was formless and empty, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. – Genesis 1:1-2

The first verse is a foreshadowing of what is to follow next.

The second verse is a much deeper foreshadowing though.

Aspects Of Power

The definition of power is the capability to do something or act.

Let’s further explore what the power of the Holy Spirit entails by focusing on three primary aspects of what He does.

PRESENCE

The first thing He does, He was there. Stepping into chaos and being present.

Which is exactly what he did at Pentecost.

The Holy Spirit coming in our midst.

“…the Spirit of truth, whom the world is not able to receive, because it does not see him or know him. You know him, because he resides with you and will be in you.” – John 14:17

Again, He is present. Fulfilling the foreshadowing of Genesis 1.

ORDER

The way the ancients viewed the pre-creation universe, was a swirling nothingness of deep chaos.

The Holy Spirit, after being present, brought order.

The order was manifest through His infinite wisdom.

Yahweh in wisdom founded the earth;
he established the heavens in understanding. – Proverbs 3:19

…and He is going to do it again:

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea did not exist any longer. – Revelation 21:1

LIFE

As the survival rule of three goes, you can go 3 weeks without food, 3 days without drinkable water and 3 minutes without air.

Ruach is breath.  Breath is life. The power of the Spirit is life.

“when Yahweh god formed the man of the dust from the ground, and he blew into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.” – Genesis 2:7 (LEB)

The Holy Spirit is responsible for our life. Without his power, we would be naught but bodies.

Only through the breath of life do we become living beings.

A wiseman once said, “We are all just 3 minutes away from death. We just reset the clock with every breath.”

No Junior Holy Spirit

Dear reader, the same Holy Spirit that was there at the Beginning of Creation, that empowered God’s people when the Spirit of the Lord came upon them to do great feats, that raised Jesus Christ from the dead, that worked through the Disciples, is in you.

There is no junior Holy Spirit.

“God made us: invented us as a man invents an engine. A car is made to run on petrol, and it would not run properly on anything else. Now God designed the human machine to run on Himself. He Himself is the fuel our spirits were designed to burn, or the food our spirits were designed to feed on. There is no other. That is why it is just no good asking God to make us happy in our own way without bothering about religion. God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there.”

― C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

Empowered By The Holy Spirit

These are just some of His powers. Don’t you think it’s worth getting to know this member of the Trinity?

Open your heart. Invite the Holy Spirit to be present in your life. To bring His infinite creative wisdom to bear in all the problems of your life. Allow the breath of God to empower you for life everlasting.

Before the shadow of reality is lifted at the end of the age to reveal things as they truly are.

Don’t wait. Act now.

Men. ‘manifest’ His power through your life.

Be present in your family.

Bring order.

Give life.
