APPLY SCRIPTURE
Are you the same man you were five years ago? Probably not. As a husband/dad (and especially a believer), growth may feel slow—but it shouldn’t be non-existent. Your mission, should you choose to accept it: stop conforming and start transforming—recognize God’s will and live it out. That’s the job. Romans 12:2 says, Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Here’s how this breaks down: #1 STOP BEING LIKE THE WORLD. Reject the world’s standard of success and self-promotion. Instead, God calls you to spiritual leadership—service to others and love for your family. If you look the same as the world, you might be doing this thing wrong. Scripture calls that conforming. You’re called instead to surrender and transform. #2 RENEW YOUR MIND. Growth often starts with your mind—with how you think. It’s not just about changing behavior at first, but about allowing God’s Word to renew your mind and heart. The Greek word for renewing has the idea of complete change—we’re talkin’ caterpillar-to-butterfly metamorphosis here. #3 KEEP KNOWING AND DOING GOD’S WILL. Keep renewing long enough and you’ll find God’s will. Your decisions start to be shaped by God. Would God serve or give here? Then you do. Boom—center of God’s will stuff. Your wants/desires are no longer good enough. You want Him more than you want anything else. That’s godliness.

What Does The Bible Say About Leadership?: God calls us to lead with humility, faith, and a servant’s heart. True leadership isn’t about titles or positions but about influencing others by reflecting Christ. From Abraham’s faith to Moses’ humility and Jesus’ sacrificial love, we see that godly leadership starts with trust in God, serving others, and doing the hard things. It’s about focusing on God’s truth, growing where He places us, and being bold in faith. A leader’s impact is rooted in integrity, generosity, and a passion for pointing others to Christ through their actions and choices.

Renew me. God’s renewal is available to every single day—to YOU. Psalm 51:10 is a powerful prayer: Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Recognize the prayer isn’t, “God, help my wife see things my way…” or, “Baby Jesus, please make my kids smarter in this area.” No, the prayer is focused on your relationship to God. Everything flows from that. Create and renew. Then do it again tomorrow. String a few days together, you’ll start to get off the bench and get in the game. Let’s go.
