Work, kids, chores—it’s easy for life to feel like an endless cycle of boring busyness. Let’s look at 1 Timothy 6:11–12 and how to fight the good fight.

#1 Run from the world. But as for you, O man of God, flee these things…” The world offers temptations—titles, wealth, and selfish desires. God calls you to avoid the world’s distractions. You fight by fleeing—running from ungodliness. Your life will look different from other dads, because you follow God rather than the world. From false teachers of Paul’s day to false teaching today—everything from greed, to arguing, to arrogance, and busyness (vv.3-10)—you recognize your love for anything not of God.

#2 Run to God. You aren’t called to simply run from sin. You fight by actively pursuing godly things. Your heart/mind/life is focused on pursuing righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, and gentleness. Example: You stop saying biting words by speaking kind ones.

#3 Keep running to God. “Fight the good fight of the faith.” You are called to stand firm and be consistent—even in the boring busyness of all the work. As a believing dad, you fight by persevering—running from the world, running to God, and constantly running to Him. It’s warfare.
