APPLY SCRIPTURE
Here’s the big idea: the Bible is your source for identity. Not science. Not culture. Not your parents. Not your pastor. Not your favorite author—unless these folks say something aligned with God’s Word. We wouldn’t know truth without Him and His Word. Look at Second Timothy 3:16–17.
#1 All Scripture is breathed out by God…All Scripture—there’s not a “pick your favorite part and forget the rest” idea here. All means all. All of it is inspired and fit for living. All of the commands? Yep. All Scripture comes from God. The same God who said, “let there be light” and day started from darkness—He gave you His Word. Breathed out—love these words. So fitting, given His Word gives us life.
#2 Profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness…It’s not just a good book but THE book that can change your life. If you believe #1, then you should live out #2. He can change you with His Word. He can teach you—shaping your beliefs and behavior. Reproof/correction—if you aren’t living for Him, His Word will show you where you’re off. Train—His Word can lead you in truth and correct your values and actions.
#3 That the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. Man of God—that’s you! God uses His Word to equip you for living a life that points you—and those around you—to Him. God calls you to keep following His Word. When things are good? Thank Him and worship Him. When you’re struggling? Praise Him and worship Him. You’re called to know and live by His Word. That’s your calling.
