APPLY SCRIPTURE

I usually want immediate and favorable results. Whenever I serve, teach, speak, help or take (really any) action (with pretty much anybody) – I like to see positive impacts right away. Yet, as a dad, that’s not always how things unfold. God sent Ezekiel to the nation of Israel, and He told him – before he went – they weren’t going to listen. How’d you like that assignment? Go do what I tell ya, but you’ll not see any results. Wait, you’ll see them. And, they’ll be the exact opposite of what you want. “And you shall speak my words to them, whether they hear or refuse to hear (Ezek 2:7)… But the house of Israel will not be willing to listen to you (Ezek 3:7)…”. That’s a great pregame pep talk, right? Go get ’em tiger – but – you’re gonna lose. Remember as a dad, our job is to be faithful to the Lord’s call, regardless of the outcome. He expects us to follow through even when we’re not seeing growth, change or impact. We don’t have to see immediate fruit, but, we do need to keep planting.

Maybe you just need to be reminded that sometimes, doing your part is all you can do. Leave the results up to God!
