Do you know what God wants? Often, we may overlook the Holy Spirit’s role in our lives. Last week, we looked at four key insights about the Holy Spirit. Today, we’ll cover three more. The Holy Spirit… #1 EmpowersAnd when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness (Acts 4:31). God gives you boldness to speak His Word. These verses show praying for more courage/boldness, not asking for relief. What if we prayed more like this? What if, as a husband/dad, you relied on God for courage to lead your family? #2 GiftsNow there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit… (1 Cor. 12:4). Paul said the Spirit gives diverse gifts/services/working for the church. These gifts are important for worship and service—for ministry and work. Big idea: Gifts increase opportunities for serving. Are you aware of the spiritual gifts you have? How are you using them to serve? #3 Leads. And they went through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia….a vision appeared to Paul…urging him and saying, ‘Come over to Macedonia and help us… (Acts 16:6-10). Try not to focus so much on the geography here. Point: Be open to God’s direction in your life. Are you open to the Holy Spirit’s leading, even if it means changing your plans?
