If you don’t lead your home, your family is vulnerable. There’s a gap if you don’t fill it. No, you don’t need to be perfect—but you need to lead. Ezekiel 22:30 shows how God calls me and you to step into the battle— “And I sought for a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the breach before me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none.”
#1 Your calling is real. “I sought for a man among them…” Don’t see your calling as optional. In Ezekiel’s day, princes responsible for law and order were lawless and unruly. Priests were to be holy, but they weren’t. Officials were to serve the people; instead, they were selfish. God calls you to take responsibility. When you don’t, there’s a gap. You’re called to know God and His Word; but in our day, many dads don’t.
#2 Your calling is to stand. “…who should build up the wall and stand in the breach…” In Ezekial’s time, a breached wall was dangerous. Spiritually, the breach in the home is where you’re called to stand—defending and discipling. When you’re spiritually absent the enemy gains access. Are you leading your family spiritually?
#3 What if you don’t live out your calling? “…but I found none.” Some of the saddest words in Scripture. Given no godly man could be found, God brought judgment and wrath. If you don’t step up and follow God, your family will struggle. Learn to live your calling, recognize the spiritual gap, and fill it starting under your roof.
