APPLY SCRIPTURE

Are you always rushed, interrupted, or in the middle of something? Time was valuable to you, so you didn’t waste it. But “time is money” quickly shifted to plain ol’ over-busy. Here are 3 ways to guard against hustle in your home. #1 Count your days. So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom (Ps. 90:12). Wisdom is tethered to an awareness of time. The days are finite/few. Recognize their worth. Don’t waste them on trivial things. Instead, be present with God during them. As Moses asked for wisdom here, you might find doing less is better than adding another thing to the family calendar. #2 Seek God’s will. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them (Eph. 2:10). You were created to do God’s work rather than your own. If you work for yourself, you are not following God. #3 Stop the busyness. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect (Rom. 12:2). This world has its way of doing things. The world is overwhelmed, anxiety-filled, and too busy for what matters, but you’re not conforming to that way. You see the world for what it is—ungodly. Instead of settling for the ways of the world, you are transformed with new mercies every morning.

If you count your days, seek God’s will, and stop the busyness, God will transform you and your family. Start prioritizing your day around His standard so that He can transform you into a new person. Cut off the worldly ways of seeking more and more. The world isn’t the answer. The answer is Christ. God calls you to be a godly husband and father, be that today. Be found good/acceptable and used for His purposes this week.
