Impatience tempts you to quit, but God calls you to keep going. Don’t let impatience sideline you. Stay focused on God’s call to be the dad He wants you to be. 3 things worth remembering: #1 Yes, important things are tough to measure. But the fruit of the Spirit is…patience… (Gal. 5:22-23). “What doesn’t get measured doesn’t get done” is the motto for many. We create reports, KPI’s, goals, and more. One writer said, recognize patience is a fruit of the Spirit—not the fruit of self-effort. Paul’s point: God has been long-suffering with us, so we should be patient. Patience is tough to measure, but we should still practice it. #2 But you’re called to keep doing good. And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up (Gal. 6:9). You’re either growing or dying. Spiritually, you’ll reap what you sow. Is something trying your patience? Great, don’t grow weary. Stay in the game, even when you’re exhausted. God promises a reward to non-giver-uppers. #3 So stay focused on your why. These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth (Heb. 11:13). The best things in life can’t be measured. Net worth? Nope. Your wife/kids seeing your spiritual growth—that’s invaluable. Heavenly things not of this earth tend to take patience. Abraham/Isaac/Jacob/Joseph—they lived by faith until death.

TAKE ACTION
Patience is found in prayer. This week, read Philippians 4:6 over and over again: Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Recognize when you’re being impatient, pray about it, and ask God for help. Reflect on your current frustrations—whether it’s work, your kid’s behavior, or struggle in your marriage. Then, move forward being thankful to God that He hears and loves you. As husbands and dads, cultivating patience through prayer will help set a calm, faithful example for your family.
