APPLY SCRIPTURE

Life can feel overwhelming, but God works every single day. There are miracles everywhere, if you look for them. Psalm 40:4-5 says a ton about how you can point your kids to God. Here are four quick takeaways from these verses.

#1 Trust in God. Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust… If you could have coffee with David, he’d tell you: trust God. David knew God’s grace in some high-highs and some low-lows. Don’t trust in yourself—that’s pride. Trust the God who’s always faithful—that’s faith. Your life and leadership as a husband/dad/man isn’t about your strength but His.

#2 Miracles are multiplied. “You have multiplied…your wondrous deeds…” God’s grace never runs out. He gives breath, laughter, and moments worth noticing—if you slow down long enough. Take five minutes, watch your kids, and listen to the ordinary moments—that’s miracles you’re seeing. Find gratitude as you consider the miracles around you.

#3 God thinks about you. “…and your thoughts toward us…” God doesn’t just work wonders—He thinks about you—personally. As a husband and dad, He sees you. God’s not distant or disengaged, and He can help you stay connected with your family.

#4 Tell stories. “I will proclaim and tell of them…” Share stories about God working in your life. Remind your family of His faithfulness—even in small moments. Tonight, tell your kids one quick story of God’s goodness. No lectures—just honest, simple reminders. Your example could open their eyes to see Him moving in their lives.

TAKE ACTION

Don’t miss miracles. God shows up in the ordinary moments of your day—a thoughtful question from your child, a quiet answer to prayer. Idea: Set a daily reminder to “Notice a miracle.” When you get home, share that moment with your family. Don’t underestimate the impact. If you forget God’s work and stay silent, your kids may never learn to see Him. But when you speak, you show them how to recognize and trust God in their own lives.
