LOOKING UP
Jesus said, “…I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12) It can be so easy as dads to give in to the darkness. We see the pain, problems and predicaments of this world. If we’re not careful, we can forget that Jesus came to be the LIGHT and to spark hope in our hearts. One way to rekindle the hope in your heart is to recall the first time God brought light. At creation. He said, “Let there be light,” and since that moment, the power of light has existed to illuminate, disinfect, cause growth and guide our path. When you consider that first light, and then realize that spiritually speaking, Jesus coming was an even greater light, things don’t seem so dim. This Christmas season, let’s keep the light in focus and remind our families that, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:5)

Share the light. Find someone you love this week and pour some light into their life. It could be by offering a sincere compliment. Maybe a text that reminds them you’re praying for them. Or, perhaps it’s a genuine question about their welfare paired with a listening ear. Somehow, during this advent season, find a way to share some light. It pushes out the darkness!
