APPLY SCRIPTURE

Mother’s Day isn’t easy. As a dad, you have to be creative, thoughtful, AND buy stuff that’ll be from your kids. Let me help. Proverbs 31:10-31 is the go-to Scripture for motherhood. She’s a real-estate buying (16), cross-fitting (17), business-leading wife and mom who never tires (18). She cooks, cleans, and serves the less fortunate. She even sews. In all this work, does the woman in your house feel loved by you and the kids?

You can win Mother’s Day by making her laugh, cry, and find some peace and quiet. #1 Laugh: a heartfelt card or letter. If your kids are young, they can draw or write their names. Older kids can write an appreciation note. #2 Cry: A new book or thoughtful gift card. The book can cover something she’s been interested in. The gift card goes to her favorite restaurant or store, obviously. With gifts, the key is to think about what she’d enjoy—not you—not the kids. #3 Find some peace and quiet. After doing #1 and #2, let her sleep in by taking the kids out of the house so she can relax.

When the Choice You Make Matters: Poet Robert Frost once wrote about choosing the road less traveled and how that decision “made all the difference.” Of course, life is full of choices. As fathers, we make dozens every day. Many are mundane and pass without a second thought, but others can represent transformational shifts for both you and your family. Today’s episode digs deeper into these “critical intersections.” You’ll pick up some practical tips for choosing the path God wants for you—and for making sure your decision-making process teaches your kids how to make wise choices when they face their own forks in the road.

TAKE ACTION

Be thankful. Review Proverbs 31:28-31 and thank God for your wife—the mom of your kids. Being grateful will go deeper than any gift you can give. Bonus idea: the mom in your life will never say this, but she wants a great dad for her kids. Are you being that? You can be sure with the Great Dad Challenge from my friend Blake Brewer.
