What do my dads get?

We take the guesswork out of “How can I do this?” When you snag the Dad Discussion Kit, you get:

  • Embarking Study Guide (Hardcopy & Digital) – Find Scripture, discussion questions, and tips for engaging well—using the print or digital so you’ll have the tools you need—however and wherever you need them.
  • Dad Boot-Up Email Series – as soon as the dad snags the Kit, we begin delivering him a carefully planned series of emails. These help him overcome any doubts or fears and address his top questions.
  • Free Field Guide  – With Embarking, dads will get access to our Keeping Score Field Guide. The question is not will our kids follow our example. The question is, what example are we giving them to follow? This book will hep you know whether you’re winning or losing as a dad—and help you win.

This kit will equip dads to become the disciple maker God calls them to be.

FAQ’s

We are a Bible-based approach that helps dads become disciple makers in their homes. We’re a non-profit organization based in Louisville, KY.

No they don’t. Our studies are built to help “regular” dads dive in and engage with no prior training or experience.

Boys ages 8-18 are the right ages to get the most out of this experience. And, even mixing the ages is healthy and leads to powerful dialogue and relationship building.

Yes! We want your young men and your – eh hem – “older” men to walk through scripture together. This helps a dad gain confidence, hear what’s on his son’s heart, and have a natural follow-up conversation after the group time.

No, but each boy would ideally have a male chaperone.

We suggest you have 1 Table Leader for every 5 Dads attending. Also, we recommend you recruit a Group Facilitator to work with you on launching and overseeing any larger group experience. As long as you have 1:5 ratio of Table Leaders-to-Dads, your group could be as small or large as your congregation or community will accommodate. So, for a group of 5 Dads, you’ll have 10-12 total fathers and sons together in the study.

The costs for the church are basically zero. You might serve coffee or snacks during your sessions, but there’s no charge for the services or digital assets that Manhood Journey provides to help you get going.

Each dad in the group will buy a Dad Discussion Kit. These are $37 and they include a Hardcopy Study Book, Digital Download version of the study book, and a “Dad Boot-Up” series of emails that coach him through whatever module you’ll be working through.

Well, that’s up to you. In one format, you could have 5 Tables full of Fathers and Sons, with 5 Table Leaders and 1 Group Facilitator. Or, you could let the “table” units just meet up on their own in their homes. The content will work in either scenario. Clearly, if you have them all meet at tables in your church, it’s a bit easier to control the flow of information and discussion; but, can be tricky to get a batch of dads and sons to all have the same night available. Rest assured, whether you use a “multiple table” approach or a “in home” approach, the format and content will work well and we’ll help you along the way.

Our Doctrinal Position

Manhood Journey is devoted to helping fathers build the next generation of godly men under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. We trust the Bible as both our foundation and guide.

We believe:

  • Jesus Christ is God’s one and only son, who died for our sins and arose from the dead. (1 Corinthians 15:1-8 & John 3:16)
  • The Bible is God’s inspired word – a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. (2 Timothy 3:16 & Psalm 119:105)
  • Every person has worth as God’s creation, but all have sinned and fall short of God’s glory. (Romans 3:23)
  • Forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life are available to those who trust Christ as Savior and Lord. (John 3:16)
  • Those who accept Christ have repented of sin and confessed their faith in Him. (Romans 10:9 & Acts 2:38)
  • The Church is the body of Christ on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit and exists to evangelize the lost and edify the saved. (Ephesians 4:1-16)
  • Jesus Christ will one day return to earth and reign forever as King of kings and Lord of lords. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)
