#1 The Deadly Sin of Pride

The disengaged dad says:  “I have the power and I’m in control.”


Principle for eliminating pride: Put off PRIDE / put on HUMILITY

Scripture for eliminating pride:
“But He gives great grace. Therefore, He says: God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” —James 4:6

The disengaged dad says: “I deserve what you have.”


Principle for eliminating envy: Put off ENVY / Put on GRATITUDE.

Scripture for eliminating envy:
“A tranquil heart is life to the body, but jealousy is rottenness to the bones.” —Proverbs 14:30



#3 The Deadly Sin of Anger

The disengaged dad says: “I have the right to be angry and blow off steam.”


Principle for eliminating anger: Put off ANGER / Put on KINDNESS.

Scripture for eliminating anger:
“A patient person shows great understanding, but a quick-tempered one promotes foolishness.” —Proverbs 14:29

The disengaged dad says: “I’ll jump in when things are on fire.”


Principle for eliminating sloth: Put off SLOTH / Put on DILIGENCE.

Scripture for eliminating sloth:
“The slacker craves, yet has nothing, but the diligent is fully satisfied.” —Proverbs 13:4



#5 The Deadly Sin of Greed

The disengaged dad says: “I deserve more.”


Principle for eliminating greed: Put off GREED / Put on CONTENTMENT.

Scripture for eliminating greed:
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.” —Matthew 6:33



#6 The Deadly Sin of Gluttony

The disengaged dad says: “Are you gonna eat that?”


Principle for eliminating gluttony: Put off GLUTTONY / Put on SELF-CONTROL.

Scripture for eliminating gluttony:
“…don’t worry about your life, what you will eat; or about the body, what you will wear. For life is more than food and the body more than clothing.” —Luke 12:22-23

The disengaged dad says: “I want it and will do anything to get it.”


Principle for eliminating lust: Put off LUST / Put on GUARDING OUR HEARTS.

Scripture for eliminating lust:
“I will not set anything worthless before my eyes. I hate the practice of transgression; it will not cling to me. A devious heart will be far from me; I will not be involved with evil.” —Psalm 101:3-4
